Why I do thisLlegué a Canadá desde Ecuador hace algunos años atras. Como muchos de nosotros, buscando seguridad y un futuro para mis hijos. Mi proceso migratorio tampoco fue fácil — soy refugiado de convencion y mi residencia permanente todavía está en trámite.
Mientras navegaba mi propio caso, hice voluntariado en firmas legales aquí en Toronto. Vi de cerca cómo funciona el sistema legal desde adentro — inmigración, familia, penal. Y vi también algo que me dolió: docenas de personas hispanohablantes sin rumbo, asustadas, contratando a la primera persona que les hablaba en español — sin saber si era abogado, si estaba regulado, o si su caso estaba en buenas manos.
Algunos terminaron con casos arruinados. Otros pagaron miles de dólares por servicios que un abogado regulado les habría dado gratis o por mucho menos.
Decidí ser un puente — pero un puente que respeta las reglas. No soy abogado y no pretendo serlo. Pero conozco el sistema, hablo tu idioma, y trabajo con abogados regulados por Law Society of Ontario que están dispuestos a darte una primera consulta sin costo.

I came to Canada from Ecuador a few years ago. Like many, I arrived looking for safety and a future for my children. My immigration process wasn't easy either — I'm a convention refugee and in the process of my PR.
While navigating my own case, I volunteered at law firms here in Toronto. I saw up close how the legal system works from the inside — immigration, family, criminal. And I also saw something that hurt me: dozens of aimless, scared Spanish-speakers hiring the first person who spoke to them in Spanish — not knowing if he was a lawyer, if he was regulated, or if his case was in good hands.
Some ended up with ruined cases. Others paid thousands of dollars for services that a regulated attorney would have given them for free or for much less.
I decided to be a bridge — but a bridge that respects the rules. I am not a lawyer and I do not pretend to be. But I know the system, I speak your language, and I work with lawyers regulated by the Law Society of Ontario who are willing to give you a free initial consultation.
